Websites that are great for the classroom!

I have been collecting sites to use in my classroom and of course at home. My son will be starting Kindergarten this fall and he has a speech delay. The only way I could get him interested was to relate to things that he loves, GAMES! The great thing is he has to earn this game time by doing his therapy and working with me. I am a happy mom knowing that his "game time" is also educational. I hope these will help you as well. http://www.abcya.com/- This site is so neat! It has grade level activities and computer games for K-5. These games are enhanced to provide an interactive way for children to learn. The best part is that it's FREE! http://www.funbrain.com/- This site also has games which we all know the kids love. I have seen over the years that students will choose free time over a treasure chest toy if they have fun things to do. I like to throw in extra learning time disguised as free time when the opportunity presents itself. This site has interactive reading books which are really fun. http://www.spellingcity.com/- This is a great site to use when working on spelling and vocabulary. I like that you can type in the words and make flash cards. http://www.starfall.com/- This site has a lot of cool things. I love that it has a section for 1st grade that is aligned with common core. http://www.abcmouse.com/- They are offering the membership free for all public schools! Can you say AWESOME!
